Warren Zaïre-Emery is making waves throughout the footballing world, with a series of eye-catching displays for Ligue 1 champions PSG. Zaïre-Emery was born in 2005, and in September 2023 he became the youngest captain of France U21 in 30 years at just 17 years of age.
Early Career
Born in Montreuil, Zaïre-Emery started his youth career with his local side Aubervilliers at the age of just four – he had to wait another year to obtain his licence to play. A clear and obvious standout, Zaïre-Emery was scouted by PSG and quickly snapped up in 2014. Here he would impress youth coaches at multiple levels by displaying maturity and talent beyond his years.
Zaïre-Emery signed professional terms with PSG in July 2022, penning a three year contract. There were rumours he was being fast-tracked to the first team and it’s clear to see why. After a number of scintillating performances in the UEFA Youth League for PSG, Zaïre-Emery would make his debut for the first team at just 16 years old, making him the youngest ever player to appear for PSG in Ligue 1.
Playing style
Zaïre-Emery is a central midfielder with deceptively good strength and superb technical qualities. He is a fantastic reader of the game and is often a picture of composure when on the ball in high-pressure situations. He also possesses leadership skills and isn’t afraid to be vocal despite being a youngster. He has no problem taking responsibility in games and is adept at both winning the ball and dictating the pace of play.
