Watford legend Luther Blissett has had quite the career. The Jamaican-born forward was renowned for his pace, movement and clinical finishing and he scored a bagful of goals in the English first division.

Blissett was eligible to play for England having lived in the country from a young age, and received his first senior call-up against Luxembourg in 1982, where he scored a wonderful hat-trick on his debut.

Such was his form for Watford, Italian giants AC Milan registered their interest in him, and would sign him in 1983 for a fee of £1M. Now, we know that doesn’t sound like much now given the state of the game, but back in the 80’s this was serious, serious money.

Blissett made over 25 league appearances for Milan, donning the famous red and black stripes in the San Siro – one of football’s most iconic arenas. A new country, a new culture, a new challenge – it was certainly an exciting time in Blissett’s life.

Be that as it may, there was something about playing in Italy that just didn’t sit right with him. Of course, when you move abroad you have to be aware things won’t be like you’re used to, but there was a particular facet of life in Italy that Blissett really struggled with.

When asked about how he was adjusting to life in Italy, Blissett told journalists he was frustrated by the fact that he couldn’t find any Rice Krispies. 🤣

Rice Krispies are undoubtedly a popular breakfast cereal here in the UK, but imagine how much you must miss it to mention it to a group of journalists!

We feel your pain Blissett, we’ve all been to McDonald’s and been given the heartbreaking news that the McFlurry machine isn’t working. Imagine being in a different country and you’re denied access to your favourite cereal!
